# iAdjustedRateFactor

Defines one pluggable multiplicative factor in an adjusted-rate calculation. The source comment establishes the key design convention documented as [BR-POL-001](../../business-rules.md#br-pol-001-neutral-value-for-non-applicable-rate-factors): when a factor does not apply to the supplied provider, it should return the neutral value `1` rather than altering the cumulative result.

## Purpose
- Provide a contract for one factor that contributes to an adjusted-rate calculation.
- Let factor implementations inspect a shared `iAdjustedRateProvider` rather than embedding provider-specific dependencies.
- Preserve the neutral-value convention for non-applicable factors through [BR-POL-001](../../business-rules.md#br-pol-001-neutral-value-for-non-applicable-rate-factors).

## Context
- Namespace: `SAIF.Business.Policy.CodeMaps`
- Assembly/package: `SAIF.Business.Policy`

## Public members
| Member | Signature | Purpose |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `Factor` | `Property Factor(ByVal inAdjustedRateProvider As iAdjustedRateProvider) As Decimal` | Returns the multiplicative factor that applies to the supplied provider context. |

## Behavioral notes
- The source comment explicitly says a non-applicable factor should return `1`, not `0`, so cumulative multiplication remains unchanged.

## Constraints and usage notes
- Implementations should keep the non-applicable case aligned with [BR-POL-001](../../business-rules.md#br-pol-001-neutral-value-for-non-applicable-rate-factors) and `AdjustedRates.NonApplicableAdjustedRateFactor`.
